About Simon

Simon Portus was born in Sydney, Australia in 1973. He completed a BA in Film and Theatre at the University of New South Wales in 2000.

His award winning short film Adrift was funded by the NSW Film and Television Office's Young Filmmakers Fund in 2005. Adrift premiered at the Sydney Film Festival Dendy Awards in 2006. 

His most recent short film Tomorrow premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in February 2009, was nominated for an AWGIE award and won Best Direction and Best Screenplay at Flickerfest in 2010. Tomorrow was funded by Screen Australia.

Simon is currently developing several feature screenplays with David Curzon, the producer/editor of Adrift and Tomorrow. Loveless, a comedy, is now in advanced development with Screen Australia. Dog Eat Dog, a thriller, is being developed by Warp Australia and Warp UK(This is England) under the WarpX banner.

Simon lives on the Mid-North Coast of NSW with his partner and three children.
